Job Description: This is a NEW and exciting full-time position in workforce development available at the River Valley
School District’s STEAM Academies at Saltsburg, Saltsburg, PA. This opportunity has a tentative start
date beginning on or before July 1, 2023. The selected candidates in-building instructional hours are
from 7:15 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Qualified applicants must have a minimum of four (4) years (8,320 hours) documented work experience
in conjunction with both cognitive and tactile skill proficiency in the welding industry. The selected
candidate must have working knowledge, experience and expertise in OSHA aligned safety standards,
in addition to a clear demonstration of welding principles and practices.
The selected candidate must be, at a minimum of proficient, in all welding positions including pipe, on
various metal types with: shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding,
flux-cored arc welding, plasma arc, oxy-acetylene and air-carbon arc cutting, oxy-acetylene welding
and brazing, metallurgy, welding symbols, blueprint reading and interpretation, Destructive and non-
destructive testing and inspection, fabrication equipment, such as but not limited to vertical bandsaw,
ironworker (Metal Muncher).
The selected candidate must also possess a post-secondary level of training as well as related industry
certifications. The selected candidate will also be required to take the National Occupational
Competency Testing Institutes (NOCTI) instructor level assessment including the written and
performance tests. Additionally, the selected candidate will be required to obtain Pennsylvania
Department of Education permanent certification over the course of ten-years,
Salary will be determined based on documented industry experience and the current collective
bargaining unit’s salary schedule. Fringe benefits include but are not limited to: medical, vision and
dental insurance, as well as participation in the Pennsylvania State Employee Retirement System
(PSERS).
