Job Description: Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree with Special Education Certification.
Current (within 1 year) Federal and State Criminal History and Child Abuse Background Clearances
• Represents BAVTS at IEP meetings, manifestation determination hearings, functional behavior assessment meetings, evaluation report meetings, and other meetings regarding the educational planning for students attending BAVTS.
• Determines specific regulations, requirements, and guidelines and services for special education students.
• Represents BAVTS at meetings of the Perkins Participatory Planning Committee, Northampton County
Transition Council, and State Interagency Advisory Committee on Transition.
• Oversees and monitors all supplemental grants associated with special education.
• Acts as liaison among sending districts, CIU20, and outside agencies regarding special education students.
• Maintains database on all identified students to include information necessary for their educational planning and the filing of all reports, records, and other legal documentation.
• Informs appropriate BAVTS staff (including paraprofessionals) about any concerns relative to identified students.
• Maintains current IEP’s for all students with special needs attending BAVTS.
• Assists in the implementation and guidance of the use of assistive technology with identified students.
• Communicates with students so that they are aware of the supports that are available at BAVTS.
• Develops linkages between BAVTS and post-secondary institutions.
• Maintains and updates skills by attending job-appropriate conferences and workshops.
• Performs before school, after school and lunch hour duties as assigned.
• Additional assigned duties as requested by administration.
