The Protective Services Instructor will provide high-quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) instruction to high school students preparing for careers in emergency and protective services. The instructor will deliver industry-aligned instruction that supports student achievement, professionalism, safety awareness, and workforce readiness.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements include but are not limited to:
• Four (4) or more years of professional experience as an EMT, or in Fire, Police, and/or Emergency Management fields.
• MES-EMT Instructor experience preferred.
• PA State Fire Instructor preferred.
• Demonstrated interest in working with high school–aged students.
• Willingness to pursue required post-secondary coursework and obtain Pennsylvania Career and Technical Education instructional certification.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and compliance, required.
• Ability to work with students and other professionals at varying types and levels of expertise.
• Maintain a Valid Driver’s License.
• Provide clearance as required by the State Departments in Pennsylvania:
1. Act 114: Federal Criminal History Report per Act 114 of 2006
2. Act 151: Child Abuse History Clearance per Act 151 of 1994
3. Act 34: PA Criminal Record Check per Section 111 of the PA School Code
• Provide:
1. Pre-Employment medical examination and TB Test per Section 111 of the PA School Code
2. Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification per Act 24 of 2011
3. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Protective Services Instructor will:
• Provide classroom and hands-on instructional experiences aligned with Pennsylvania Department of Education Career and Technical Education standards.
• Prepare students for entry into postsecondary education, training programs, or employment in emergency and protective services fields, including Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Fire Services, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Management.
• Develop, implement, and assess curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials reflective of current industry standards and safety practices.
• Establish and maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes professionalism, teamwork, and accountability.
• Integrate employability skills, leadership development, and career readiness competencies into instruction.
• Assess student performance, maintain accurate records, and communicate student progress as required.
• Collaborate with administration, colleagues, sending school districts, advisory committee members, and community partners to support program goals.
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, advisory committee meetings, and other assigned activities.
• Comply with all BCCTC policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations. Maintains a positive work environment.
• Any other duty as assigned by the Principal, Administrative Director, and/or Designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
• This is a full-time position as an instructor working the school calendar year.
