Summary of Position:
The Principal of TCHS Pickering Campus serves as the instructional and operational leader of a dynamic and innovative career and technical education program within Chester County Intermediate Unit. This role oversees academic and technical programs, staff supervision, student services, and community engagement. The Principal ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, fosters innovation in career pathways, and promotes a safe, inclusive learning environment for both secondary and adult learners.

Dimensions and Organizational Relationships of Position:
Reports directly to the Director of the Career Technical & Custom Education (CTCE) Division. Responsible for all operations and activities within the assigned building.

Essential Duties and Program Responsibilities:
1. Provide instructional leadership and manage daily operations of academic and CTE programs.
2. Supervise, evaluate, and support professional, technical, and support staff.
3. Oversee curriculum development aligned with PA academic standards, industry certifications, and postsecondary pathways.
4. Administer building and program budgets, including PDE grants, Perkins funding, and other revenue sources.
5. Coordinate student admissions, recruitment, orientation, and enrollment.
6. Ensure compliance with PA Chapters 4 and 339, IDEA, Title IX, Civil Rights, OSHA, and Perkins V.
7. Manage standardized testing, NOCTI assessments, and accountability reporting.
8. Lead professional development and foster collaboration through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
9. Oversee special education services and ensure IEP compliance.
10. Support guidance services, career counseling, and targeted assistance for special populations.
11. Maintain a safe and secure learning environment, including crisis response and safety drills.
12. Cultivate partnerships with school districts, industry leaders, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations.
13. Serve as liaison to occupational advisory committees to ensure program relevance.
14. Promote Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), cooperative education, and work-based learning.
15. Guide development of new programs and facility renovations aligned with workforce trends.
16. Advocate for CTE through marketing, public relations, and legislative outreach.
17. Ensure acquisition and integration of industry-standard tools and instructional technology.
18. Monitor instructional practices to improve student achievement and workforce readiness.
19. Oversight of specialized programs affiliated with CCIU and housed on the Pickering campus
20. Coordination of school assemblies, extracurricular/co-curricular activities, and staff duty assignments.
21. Supervision of support staff involved in student attendance, instructional support, and accounting.
22. Facilitate liaison counselor meetings and customer service initiatives with business and postsecondary partners.
23. Other duties as assigned by administrator.

Education and Experience:
1. Master’s degree required.
2. Pennsylvania Secondary School Principal Certification.
3. Minimum of 3–5 years of administrative experience in a secondary school.
4. Experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE) preferred.
5. Demonstrated expertise in program development, staff management, curriculum design, data analysis, marketing, and technology integration.

9. Ability to interpret technical instructions and regulations involving both abstract and concrete variables.
10. Ability to apply sound judgment to resolve conflicts and solve problems.
11. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.
12. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, administration, agencies, and the community.
13. Ability to transport between central office and various locations throughout the county and state as required by the position.
14. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
15. Ability to meet demands from several people, and to multi-task.

Certifications required/preferred:
1. Pennsylvania Secondary School Principal Certification.

Salary Range (2025-2026):
Administrators, Level E ($133,433/year – $166,791/year)
* Salary is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role.
260 day position, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
