Job Description: MBIT is seeking a qualified professional to fill the position of Plumbing Instructor. Our Plumbing Technology Program is nationally recognized and accredited through the Residential Construction Academy (RCA) in conjunction with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Home Builders Institute (HBI) and has been designed around a business, industry, and national skills standards model. This program uses project-based methods and national performance standards to instruct and evaluate students in a variety of careers in the mechanical and building maintenance industries.
Responsibilities:
•Provide quality occupational instruction to Career and Technical Education students to prepare them for successful practice as licensed plumbers by applying technical knowledge and skills to lay out, assemble, install and maintain piping fixtures and systems for steam, natural gas, oil, hot water, heating, cooling, drainage, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial processing systems in home and business environments.
•Includes instruction in source determination, water distribution, waste removal, pressure adjustment, basic physics, technical mathematics, blueprint reading, pipe installation, pumps, welding and soldering, plumbing inspection and applicable codes and standards.
Duties include:
•Program development and enhancing curriculum to remain current and providing effective instruction and supervision of all students.
•Build professional relationships with local business and industry partners to establish potential work sites for students.
•Conduct all classroom activities as validated by the Occupational Advisory Committee.
•Maintain appropriate professional certificates and licenses as required.
•Willingness to pursue teaching certification and professional development activities to enhance the program as well as self.
•Capable of fulfilling all job responsibilities as indicated in the MBIT Teacher Job Description.
