Job Description: The Career Institute of Technology (CIT) is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Masonry Instructor to join our instructional team. This position begins full-time with the start of the 2026–2027 school year.
The successful candidate will teach high school students enrolled in a Career & Technical Education (CTE) program focused on foundational and advanced masonry and construction skills. Instruction includes both classroom theory and hands-on laboratory experiences aligned with current industry standards and practices in residential and commercial masonry.
Responsibilities include:
• Deliver high-quality instruction in masonry and construction techniques including bricklaying, block work, stone masonry, mortar mixing, layout, foundations, and basic concrete work.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that integrate masonry theory, blueprint reading, construction math, and real-world building applications.
• Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications and credentials related to masonry and construction trades.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and industry-standard masonry shop/lab environment.
• Supervise students during hands-on construction projects and strictly enforce proper safety procedures and PPE usage.
• Assess student technical skills, provide constructive feedback, and track progress toward program competencies and NOCTI task lists.
• Collaborate with industry advisory partners, colleagues, and administration to support program growth and alignment with regional workforce needs.
• Participate in school-based initiatives, including the student build house project.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of four (4) years of relevant industry experience in masonry, construction, or related building trades required.
• Experience with brick, block, stone, concrete work, and blueprint reading preferred.
• Willingness to obtain Pennsylvania Department of Education Career & Technical Instructional Certification (tuition reimbursement available).
• Strong communication skills, a commitment to student success, and the ability to manage a hands-on, fast-paced learning environment are essential.
