Job Title: Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, & Refrigeration Instructor

Job Description: The Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, & Refrigeration program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to install, repair and maintain commercial and domestic heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Instruction includes theory and application of basic principles involved in the conditioning of air (cooling and heating); filtering and controlling humidity; operating characteristics of various units and parts; blueprint reading; use of technical reference manuals; the diagnosis of malfunctions; overhaul, repair and adjustment of units and parts such as pumps, compressors, valves, springs and connections; and repair of electrical, electronic and pneumatic control systems.

The successful candidate must possess communication skills which will be required to convey the description, purpose, requirements, course prerequisites, curriculum and student responsibilities of the HVAC/r program to students, parents, educators, and the general public.

STARTING DATE
2023-2024 School Year

SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary will be commensurate with education and work experience and will be determined in accordance with the current teacher salary schedule. Benefits include family health insurance, term life insurance, long term disability insurance and retirement.

LEVEL
Grades 10, 11 and 12

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold a high school diploma and have a minimum of 4 years or 8000 hours of paid work experience. The documented vocational related work experience must be related to the area of HVAC/r.

Candidates must be willing to enroll & remain enrolled with an approved teacher certification program to become certified with the Department of Education as a vocational instructor. (Occupational Competency Assessment (OCA) 2010 in HVAC/r (CIP # 47.0201)

Current Act 24, 34, 114 and 151 clearances (dated within one (1) year) and Act 168 Disclosure Releases. (All required forms are available on the website www.ctclc.edu on the home page located under About CTCLC on the Employment Tab)

Pre-Employment Drug Screening.
