Job Description: The Berks Career and Technology Center is currently seeking to fill a full-time, 10-month permanent Head Cook position at our East Campus located in Oley, Pennsylvania.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Experience in food service is required. Understanding the basic regulations and specifications of the National School Lunch Program is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
Duties & Responsibilities: The head cook is responsible for preparing and serving attractive, nutritionally balanced meals utilizing standardized recipes that follow the guidelines set forth by the National School Lunch Program. Position requires knowledge of appropriate serving sizes for each food group. Duties also include assisting with storage and disposal of food and point of sale, as needed. The individual selected must be able to lift 50 pounds and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
What is the schedule: Daily working hours: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm with a 30-minute break. Monday through Friday at a total of 40 hours per week. Ten months as per the school year calendar (off in the summer).
Salary and Benefits: Starting salary range will be $19.50/per hour – $21.50/per hour based on experience with annual increases. Personal and emergency days are awarded annually. Monthly contributions made into the school PSERS retirement system and free lunch daily!
