Job Description: QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a valid English 7-12 teaching certificate. Past teaching experience is preferred.
REPORTS TO: Principal
WORK DAY: As outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
JOB GOAL: To effectively teach students in the CMAVTS English Department and help them achieve the goals and objectives of that department.
Performance Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Delivery:
Teach a range of English-related subjects including:
Language arts
Fiction and nonfiction literature
Grammar and usage
Spelling
Composition
Linguistics
Creative writing
Public speaking and presentations
Listening skills
Curriculum Development:
Collaborate with department members to:
Develop, revise, and update curriculum
Align curriculum with PA State Academic Standards
Assessment & Grading:
Assign student work such as projects, quizzes, and tests
Grade and evaluate work to ensure understanding of competencies
Goal Alignment:
Work with the school district to:
Establish goals and benchmarks
Define grading criteria for the English program
Student Monitoring:
Track and assess student progress
Provide timely, constructive feedback for skill development
Professional Participation:
Engage in professional responsibilities such as:
Department and faculty meetings
Act 80 Days & In-service Days
Teacher in-service and required training sessions
Other Duties:
Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned
Adhere to terms within the Collective Bargaining Agreement
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Year-to-Year. Salary to be determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
SELECTION: Appointment shall be by the Joint Operating Committee following the recommendation of the Administrative Director.
