Job Description: The York County School of Technology is seeking a professional educator for the Engineering program for the 2023-2024 school year. This is a technical high school program for students in grades 9-12. York Tech serves a diverse population of 1700 students from 14 sending school districts in York County. We are a comprehensive full-time high school and offer a full athletic program, a wide variety of student organizations and clubs, and cooperative education opportunities.
This technical program prepares students to apply knowledge and skills in the engineering field through an introduction to engineering pathways such as civil engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, electromechanical instrumentation, industrial production and mechanical engineering. Instruction includes but is not limited to electronics, robotics, principles of mechanics, properties of materials, industrial components and control circuits, instrumentation calibration, prototype development, testing, inspecting, systems analysis and maintenance, applications to specific engineering systems, CAD/CAM, automation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), CNC, hydraulics, and pneumatics, and report writing. Also included are concepts related to safety, ethics, problem solving, teamwork, and STEM initiatives. This two-teacher program currently incorporates Project Lead the Way curriculum and is developing a cooperative pathway with our precision machining program.
Pennsylvania teaching certification in Technology Education (formerly Industrial Arts) or Engineering Related Technology is strongly preferred. Candidates who do not hold teaching certification must have at least four years’ documented paid work experience in the field and be willing to complete required college coursework and testing necessary to obtain full teaching certification.
