Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology seeks strong administrative leadership in the areas of planning (with an emphasis on continuous improvement), assessment and accountability, and institutional research. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Director and will report directly to the President of the College. The Director oversees and coordinates strategic planning for the College and plays a leadership role in maintaining and strengthening the College’s existing accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
The Director works closely with the administrative leadership in all areas of the College including academic affairs, finance and administration, and student services. An especially important part of the Director’s portfolio involves the accurate and timely assessment of student learning and subsequent career success. The College seeks to strengthen its commitment to the use of institutional research to foster continuous improvement and will look to the Director to provide the requisite leadership.
The Director has supervisory responsibilities and must be skilled at working collaboratively with a variety of constituents within as well as outside the College.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Develop and implement strategic planning endeavors in pursuit of the College’s mission and goals. These efforts include the collection and utilization of relevant data to support a continuous improvement approach to planning.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements including the timely submission of data for systems such as the Pennsylvania Information Management System (PIMS).
Monitor and ensure compliance with commitments made to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and other accreditation expectations.
Provide the necessary technical support to Academic Affairs to ensure the collection, analysis, presentation, and publication of student learning assessment data, including the creation of dashboards that highlight results for student sub-groups central to the College’s mission and goals.
Provide the necessary technical support to Academic Affairs to conduct timely and insightful periodic reviews of programs and academic services.
Provide the necessary technical support to Student Affairs regarding the periodic student surveys, including the Student Academic Opinion Survey (SAOS), the ETS-Pre-Test Survey, and the ETS Post-Test Survey, including the creation of dashboards that highlight results for student sub-groups central to the College’s mission and goals.
Direct and participate in the management of College-wide on-line testing as it pertains to NOCTI, ASE, and ETS pre and post testing cycles.
Direct and participate in the management off the Customer Service Satisfaction Survey (CSSS).
Lead efforts to determine priorities for studies and the review of findings with the goal of formulating new directions for future research in the spirit of a continuous improvement approach to strategic planning.
Monitor and provide oversight to ensure the efficient and effective use of funds for planning efforts and make efforts to secure additional external funding for needed research.
Provide supervision and oversight for the staff located within the Director’s Office.

Qualifications
An earned master’s degree in a relevant educational field from an accredited institution;
Teaching experience in K-12 or post-secondary educational institutions;
Knowledge about and interest in career and technical education, particularly at the post-secondary level;
Demonstrated good judgment, diplomacy and skill in providing sensitive communications and being respectful with people who are diverse in their cultures, languages and abilities;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and experience with strategic planning and institutional research;
Knowledge of computer technology and instructional learning systems, procedures, and security requirements;
Ability to take the initiative on projects, follow through on details, and balance various tasks simultaneously;
Exceptional written, presentation, and verbal communication skills that are effective with multiple constituencies; and
Experience in balancing strategic leadership with the need to achieve demonstrable results.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, and copier.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and movement is required. This would require the ability to lift files and file boxes, open filing cabinets, walking, and bending or standing as necessary.
