Job Title: Director of Career and Technical Education

Job Description: Octorara Area School District is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Career and Technology Education. The Director will direct administration of career and technical programs, staff, and students. The position collaborates with the Superintendent of Schools, and High School Principal to provide leadership for the development, implementation, and coordination of the District’s career and technical education programming.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Five (5) years experience in Career and Technical educational experience; Master’s Degree required; Director of Vocational Education Certification for the Commonwealth of PA; Administrative Certification (Principal)

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Prepare, monitor, and administer annual CTC Budget and grant budgets for CTE programs; submit grants to PDe through the e-grant system, maintaining all documentation for audit; and assist with the establishment of awards, scholarships, and endowments, which support CTE.

Work with Business Administrator to develop and administer contracts with educational providers for CTE of students at off-campus sites.

Cultivate and maintain critical business/industry educational partnerships to enhance CTC student opportunities such as field trips, guest speakers, work experiences, and advisory committee participation.

Promote, develop, administer, and evaluate CTC programs, propose changes, maintain documentation for PDE audit, and submit programs for approval.

Establish and maintain membership for the General Advisory Committee and Occupational Advisory Committees for CTC as required by law. Provide support and represent CTE on the Technology and Strategic Planning Committees and other District committees, as required.

Ensure that all programs operate in compliance with all applicable statutes, regulations, and district policies and procedures.
Oversee planning, design, implementation and evaluation of career and technical curriculum reported to PDE.

Develop all printed material for CTC such as brochures, posters, and course selection guide; make presentations to students, parents and the community about CTC program options.

Provide leadership in the recruitment, assignment, supervision and evaluation of CTC teachers; assist with the development of the master schedule, assign staff, determine courses to be offered, and assist with other secondary recruitment.

Work with the Student Activities Coordinators to supervise career and technical student organizations, clubs, and competitions.

Oversee students and staff of the Cooperative Work Experience program, including internships and Registered Youth Apprenticeships.

Oversee integration of state-of -the-art technology in classrooms and labs. Meet with the Technology Director in regards to cascading plans, purchases, operation of labs, security, etc.

Serve on the IEP teams as LEA or vocational representative, maintaining records and administering the vocational component of the IEP for special education students enrolled in career and technical programs.

Develop and oversee Tech Prep Articulation Agreements with post-secondary schools.

Maintain a safe educational environment and design proactive student discipline initiatives.

Serve as the District liaison for the Chester County Career & Technical School.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
