Job Description: Dental Occupations Instructor (CIP CODE: 51.0601) – Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) is seeking a qualified, student-centered professional to serve as a Dental Occupations Instructor. This position offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic program that prepares students for entry-level positions as integral members of a dental health team. The ideal candidate will bring substantial industry experience, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to delivering hands-on, real-world instruction aligned with local workforce needs and career readiness goals.

About the Program:
Our Dental Occupations program prepares students with the skills and knowledge necessary for entry-level positions as a dental assistant, orthodontic assistant, clinical assistant, dental laboratory technician, or dental receptionist. The program of study covers a variety of topics necessary for student success, including dental science instruction in dental materials, dental radiology, oral anatomy and pathology, and therapeutics. Clinical science instruction will emphasize principles of office management, chairside assisting, sterilization procedures, dental emergencies, and legal and ethical aspects of dental practice. Clinical education is also an integral part of the program, designed to perfect students’ competence in performing dental assisting functions.

Students have the opportunity to earn industry recognized certifications, including ChildLine Training, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, DANB Infection Control, DANB National Entry Level Dental Assistant, DANB Radiation Health and Safety, OSHA Career Safe Healthcare Provider, and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens.

● Term of Employment: Full-time (10 Months), permanent
● Compensation: Per MBEA Teachers’ Contract

Responsibilities:
● Provide high-quality, competency-based instruction to prepare students with pre-professional experiences in the dental industry, and related fields.
● Develop and deliver lessons incorporating safety, employability skills, academic integration, and industry standards.
● Maintain a safe, organized classroom/lab environment, including implementation of essential laboratory safety rules.
● Engage students in hands-on learning experiences that reflect real-world scenarios in the dental industry.
● Build and maintain strong professional relationships with industry partners to enhance student learning and potential cooperative education opportunities.
● Maintain accurate student records, assessment data, and grading in accordance with school policy.
● Provide supervision and guidance to students, fostering professionalism and leadership through Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) activities.

Required Qualifications:
● Graduate of approved postsecondary dental assisting program accredited by the National Council on Dental Education AND certified as a dental assistant
OR
Graduate from a postsecondary college for dental hygienists AND licensed as a dental hygienist by the PA State Board of Dentistry.
OR
Hold a current Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) license by the PA State Board
of Dentistry.
● Pennsylvania teacher certification in the assigned teaching area OR eligibility to pursue certification.
● Minimum of four (4) years, preferably seven (7) years, of occupational experience in the dental occupation.
● Computer proficiency and familiarity with current instructional technology.

Preferred Qualifications:
● Teaching experience in a career and technical education setting.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Experience integrating industry-recognized certifications into instruction.
