Location: Lebanon County Career and Technology Center
The Lebanon County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC) is now accepting applicants for the position of Culinary Arts Teacher. This is a 189-day, full-time professional position.
LCCTC’s Culinary Arts program is certified by the American Culinary Federation (ACF). While ACF certification is not required, it is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will oversee and operate the student-run restaurant, the Hilltop Café, providing students with authentic, hands-on industry experience.
Performance Responsibilities:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
• Establish standards for classroom behavior, kitchen safety, sanitation, and professionalism that support the school’s discipline and safety programs.
• Identify curriculum content by specifying competencies aligned with industry standards, ACF guidelines, and advisory committee input.
• Plan and deliver instruction for each competency using clear performance standards, competency procedures, and structured learning steps.
• Supervise and manage the daily operation of the student-run Hilltop Café, including menu planning, food production, purchasing, inventory, cost control, and customer service.
• Instruct students in culinary fundamentals including knife skills, food preparation techniques, baking and pastry basics, garde manger, hot and cold food production, nutrition, sanitation, and hospitality management.
• Communicate, promote, and support the benefits of CTSOs, including SkillsUSA participation and competition preparation.
• Maintain technological and instructional skills through continuous professional development and industry engagement.
• Maintain active involvement with the program’s Occupational Advisory Committee.
• Communicate with administration, parents, and support staff as necessary concerning student progress.
• Create a classroom and kitchen environment that models professionalism, courtesy, teamwork, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience and knowledge shall include:
o Commercial kitchen operations
o Food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe or equivalent preferred)
o Menu planning and cost control
o Catering and high-volume food production
o Baking and pastry fundamentals
• Knowledge and use of:
o OSHA and food safety standards
o Commercial kitchen equipment and small wares
o Culinary math and recipe conversions
o Inventory systems and purchasing procedures
• Computer experience is required.
• High school diploma, along with formal culinary training (Associate degree or higher preferred).
• Must have a minimum of four years of full-time, wage-earning experience in Culinary Arts, or two years of full-time wage-earning experience and a bachelor’s degree.
• Must possess or be willing to attain a PA CTE teaching certification (Culinary Arts CIP 12.0508).
• ACF certification is strongly preferred but not required.
