Qualifications: Must possess the following PDE certificate: Institutional Food Workers, CIP Code: 12.0508; Career Cluster: Hospitality & Tourism (Occupational Competency Area: Quantity Foods 2059) or have the following qualifications to obtain the required certificate:

• Four-plus years of recent full-time wage-earning work experience beyond the training period in the culinary field is required. Bachelor or Associate degree in culinary arts, hospitality or related area from a nationally recognized post institution preferred; ACF/Certified Culinary Educator and ServSafe preferred.

• Must complete the PDE required course work and certification process, if not already certified. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage and motivate high school students.

Position Goal: This position will prepare secondary career and technical students that are interested in pursuing careers in the hospitality industry. Specialized learning units include theory and work experience in the major areas of cooking and baking. Experience is also gained in front-of-house skills, care and use of kitchen equipment, nutrition, food purchasing, and sanitation in food handling.

Work schedule: The normal workday is Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 3:15 pm, 7 ¾ hours. The day includes a 30-minute duty free lunch. 10-months (190 days/year). This includes six (6) evening functions per school year equaling three (3) contractual workdays). Two days per month, there will be up to an additional fifteen (15) minutes added to the workday for faculty meetings.
