Job Description: Carpentry/Construction Teacher – School Year/9 Month*
As the Carpentry & Construction teacher, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive instruction to students in the building industry, including occupational safety, footings & foundations, framing, and assembly techniques. In these areas, you will cover blueprint reading, accurate measuring & layout, constructing walls & roofs, and cost & material estimating. You will use your industry experience to work with students to help them gain the confidence and knowledge to plan and construct elements of today’s building techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver comprehensive instruction in carpentry and related fields, including framing, finishing, roofing, cabinetry, and millwork.
Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that are aligned with industry standards and best practices.
Provide hands-on instruction in the use of hand and power tools, woodworking techniques, joinery, and finishing methods.
Plan and implement engaging instructional activities that encourage student participation and critical thinking.
Assess student performance and provide timely feedback on assignments, projects, and assessments.
Stay current with industry trends and technologies, including changes in building codes, safety regulations, and sustainable building practices.
Maintain a safe and clean workshop environment, including monitoring the use of tools and equipment and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes creativity, innovation, and collaboration among students.
Qualifications:
Pennsylvania teacher certification a plus
College courses leading to certification will be required
Minimum of four years verifiable industry experience required
