TARGET AUDIENCE: Administrative and Supervisory CTE Personnel

DATES/LOCATIONS: October 22, 2024 – Online Synchronous

PIL HOURS TO BE AWARDED: 45

DESCRIPTION:
Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging in CTE is a 45-hour course that includes 16 hours of theoretical instruction and 29 hours of job embedded assignments. The knowledge and skills are crucial for administrators with responsibility for preparing all students to succeed in a diverse and dynamic workforce. By embracing these principles, CTE administrators can ensure that CTE programs provide more equitable educational opportunities, foster inclusive learning environments, and ensure that every student feels a sense of belonging and empowerment. This approach not only enhances individual student outcomes but also contributes to a more just and equitable society.
The course will be delivered synchronously online during the workday in two to three-hour blocks of time. This allows participants time to assimilate information, and to plan time for the assessments and job embedded assignments. There are five theory modules that total 14 theory hours for the course.
The modules are as follows:

1. Understanding Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
2. Addressing Bias and Microaggressions
3. Culturally Responsive Teaching in CTE
4. Inclusive Practices, UDL, and Accessibility
5. Data-Driven Decision Making for Equity

There are three job embedded assignments: (1) Participants will conduct an equity audit and create and implement an action plan to address gaps in student achievement or performance. (2) Participants will collaborate with a CTE or academic teacher to implement a Culturally Responsive Teaching Strategy. (3) Create and implement an inclusive practices project.
Participants will create more inclusive and equitable learning environments where students of all genders can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Administrators will gain skill and evidence for components of the Framework for Leadership in Domains 1a, 1b, 1c; 2a, 2c, 2d, 2e, 2f, 2g; 3a, 3d; 4a, 4b, 4c.
